Progression, checks & the final quiz

Open vs quiz-gated progression, per-module checks, and the certificate quiz.

Progression & checks — pick open or quiz-gated, add module checks.

Open vs quiz-gated

The Progression & checks step sets how students move through the course:
  • Open — students roam all modules freely. The default; right for reference material.
  • Quiz-gated — module N+1 unlocks when a student passes module N’s check (or finishes its lessons, if it has no check). Right for curricula where later modules build on earlier ones.

The choice saves immediately, and the step warns you about modules that have no check yet.

Module checks — practice quizzes

Press Add module check on a module, set its pass threshold (default 80%), and add questions. Checks are deliberately learner-friendly: unlimited retakes, and after each submit the student sees the correct answers plus your “Why:” explanation per question — write those explanations, they’re where the teaching happens. Module checks never issue certificates.

The final assessment

On the Quiz & certificate step, Create quiz + certificate sets up the course-level assessment. Its settings are stricter than module checks, and each has a default you can tune:
  • Unlock at % (default 90) — course progress required before the quiz opens.
  • Attempts (default 3) — total tries per student.
  • Cooldown (default 60 min, 0 = none) — wait between failed attempts.
  • Time limit (optional) — a countdown that auto-submits at zero.

The final quiz never reveals correct answers to students — attempts are limited, so the answer key stays private.

The certificate template

Below the quiz settings lives the certificate: a rich-text template with placeholders __STUDENT_NAME__, __COURSE_NAME__ and __QUALIFY_SCORE__, plus its own pass threshold (default 70%) — the score that actually earns the certificate. The rendered PDF carries your school’s certificate logo and accent color. Not happy with your edits? Reset to the default design brings back the standard layout.
